West 6130 Bend Raclette Party Grill Review

(More customer reviews)We used it when my in-laws came in. The granite (for warming foods) is beautiful and likely expensive which is probably why the engineer/designer went cheap with the metal top that actually grills the meat.
The metal grilling portion is very thin/light. When we began cooking the thinly sliced steak and salmon, we brought it right out from the fridge. With the rapid change in temperature, the top did begin to ((warp/bend)). However, when it cooled off, it went right back to normal. Was slightly disturbed when it happened because it was a pretty drastic change in shape. The heat this racelette grill gives off is perfect and certainly hot enough to cook the foods we prepared.
If you do not mind spending more money for this size then go get the Swissmar but we only use it during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Overall, worth the money.Amazon did a nice job with packaging! With quick shipping as well!

Nesco roasters are such a part of my family's history that I thought everyone owned one. When there were family reunions, we'd see many of these, holding everything from hot potato salad to baked beans, to burgers and brats to keep them warm before the meal starts.
Back to the turkey, however. In the 10 years that my wife and I have been hosting Thanksgiving for our families, we've never had a bad turkey come out of the Nesco. When I hear stories about dried-out birds in standard ovens, I can't relate, since I've never had any need to roast a turkey or ham in the oven.

This Jar Lid Wrench by Back to Basics is a life-saver! I use it for for opening vacuum-packed lids, lids that my hubby has screwed on too tightly, and even for the caps on soda pop bottles.
The two sizes on the lid wrench fit everything, and I've even used the long handle area to open the tiniest bottles, like a pill bottle.
I love this product so much that I now own TWO of them, and am going to order one for my daughter's hope chest. (Does anyone even remember what a 'hope chest' is? *smile*)

(More customer reviews)I have been looking for an inexpensive Curly Fry Cutter for several years. I bought one of these locally and it works SO FAST and easy with perfect Curly Fries that I ordered three of them on Amazon shipped to family members out of state!
If you wash the potato good, remove eyes, then you can just cut it and fry it with skin on which is healthy for you. It will cut a medium sized potato in seconds!! And it catches it in the bottom hopper. There is a small heal left but I just cut it in strips like regular fries. The machine comes apart easily and is easy to wash.
The Curlies cook faster than regular fries too. If you look online you can find recipes for your favorite restaurant seasonings to put on them also.
If you like FRESH Fries this machine is a must have.

(More customer reviews)So far, we have had no success in getting this screen to work. We've boiled the pumpkin, taken the rind off, and still it doesn't go through. Most of the pumpkin gets shunted out the side screen, and then mostly water comes out of the shoot where the pumpkin puree should be exiting. We're going to let it cool completely and try again. Hopefully that will work, otherwise it will simply be a waste of money for this screen.

Progressive International Egg Slicer Review

(More customer reviews)I wrote a good review first because of the versatility of this slicer but after using it for a couple of months it started falling apart on me. Two wires have already broken and others are sagging like they are ready to break. I don't use this slicer very much and I only use it on eggs that's why I can't believe it's doing this. I feel the concept is great but the quality really lacks on this slicer that is why the 2 stars.
update: About all of the wires are broken on this, it's now completely useless, I might of got a bad one but I don't think so it looks like all of the wires were rusted where they are connected to the sides like some of the water didn't drain off so they rusted through. Well it's time to look for a new slicer. Oh and I took it down one star since it is basically a doorstop now.

Progressive International Avocado Slicer Review

(More customer reviews)I am an avacado fan. So, when I came across this tool, I thought, "aha... something to save me time in the kitchen". Well, that's only partially true.
If I have an avacado the same width as the avacado slicer, then all is right with the world. A simple motion of pressing into the avacado half and pulling towards me, and I end up with evenly spaced slices. What could be simpler or quicker!
Alas, there is a downside. If your avacado is smaller in width than the slicer, your in for a messy situation. The slicer no longer slides through the avacado, it gets caught on the tough skin (it is wider than the avacado in this situation) and the once even slices are now mashed and part of the avacado peel sticks to the slicer. I spent more time cleaning up after the slicer and my slices were no longer uniform. In this case, I would have been better off using my knife.

(More customer reviews)Just got this yesterday. Took their advice and used the supplied molds and not just plain ice cubes (will try that later). Made one helping of frozen milk and two of plain ice. This morning, I put the block of milk in the hopper and cranked out some BEAUTIFUL shaved (not crushed, not flaked, but beautifully shaved) ice milk. Topped it with some chocolate syrup and just enjoyed the heck out of it. I'm not sure why the other reviewer found it so hard to crank the unit. I'm 61 with mild arthritis in both hands and didn't have any problem. I don't know how much hard use this beauty will take but I figure for $18 I can afford to buy a new one every summer.

Progressive International 5-Piece Set Collapsible Measuring Cups Review

(More customer reviews)I'd been working with only a liquid measuring cup for too long, so I bought these because I knew they'd fit in my drawers. I wasn't sure how sturdy they would be, but I'm not worried about that now that I've used them for a couple months. When they're expanded, you might not even know they're collapsible. And there are only two possible positions--collapsed and expanded--so it's not like they will give different measurements if you somehow mangle them (something I had been irrationally concerned about).
The magnets are a nice touch, I suppose, but only the 1/4 and 1/3 cups are light enough to stay put on my fridge, so the other three sit in the drawer sticking to my measuring spoons.
Edit: The lettering on the measuring cups was pretty much unreadable after about a year, so I have to compare the sizes to tell which is which. Still love 'em, though.

Victorio VKP1055 Stainless Steel Dual-Use Steam or Water Bath Canner Review

(More customer reviews)I have been involved with canning for nearly 50 years. I've used a lot of water bath and pressure canners. This was my first experience with a steam canner, although steam canning had been recommended to me several years ago. My friend told me she used to have a stainless steel steam canner but now all she can find is aluminum, so when I saw this I said, "OK, let's give it a try." I know the Victorio name from their juicer, and it's a quality company. True to my expectations, this canner lives up to the Victorio name. It is heavy-duty 18/8 gauge stainless steel, has excellent instructions for both steam and water-bath canning. It's easy to use, easy to clean, and extremely durable. The gauge on top is accurate, folks, and takes the guesswork out of when to start the timing. Eight jars at once (while steam canning) is marvelous! I've done several loads of peaches today in this pot and I won't go back to water bath for anything! This is a beautiful, economical, multi-use canning pot and I'm going to love owning and using it year after year. My only regret is that I didn't have it years ago when I was doing much more canning for my family! It's more expensive than the aluminum Back to Basics brand canner, but I'm glad I spent the extra because I know I'll love this dual-pot a lot more than just the single-function Back to Basics. Back to Basics cookware is good (I own some), but in this case, the Victorio wins the prize.

(More customer reviews)I don't know why I lived without it! It sits beautifully in the mouth of the jar and the wide hole lets the food fall right into the jar like it wasn't there. Ladles seem to know just when to drip so it hits the side of the jar. You can almost hear them laughing at you. This funnel ends that! No more food running down the side of the canning jar. No more messy, sticky rims that need to be carefully cleaned before placing the lid. And it cleans very easily. I highly recommend it.
